Ibeganmystudieswitheagerness.BeforemeIsaorldopeningiyandlight,awithihecapacitytoknowallthings.InthewonderlandofMindIshouldbeasfreeasaspeople,sery,manners,joys,tragediesshouldbeliving,tangibleinterpretersoftherealworld.Thelecture-hallsseemedfilledwiththespiritofthegreatandthewise,andIthoughttheprofessorsweretheembodimentofwisdom.IfIhavesincelearneddifferently,Iamnotgoingtotellanybody.
ButIsoondiscoveredthatcollegewasnotquitetheromanticlyceumIhadimagined.Manyofthedreamsthathaddelightedmyyounginexperiencebecamebeautifullylessand"fadedintothelightofonday.”
